Patara Barcelona: New Tapas & Cocktail Spot You Can’t Miss

Barcelona’s food scene just got even better! Patara, the newest tapas and cocktail bar in town, is the perfect blend of modern elegance and cozy charm. If you’re looking for a place to unwind with beautifully crafted drinks and mouthwatering tapas, this is it.

From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by Diksha, one of the three owners, whose warmth and enthusiasm instantly set the tone for the evening. She led us to our table and, without hesitation, I let her take the reins—choosing and serving us their best dishes. And oh, did she deliver.

Patara takes classic tapas and elevates them with a creative twist, blending Mediterranean and Asian influences into every dish. Each plate is a perfect mix of bold flavors and delicate presentation, making it ideal for both casual bites and indulgent dinners.

    My personal favourites?

    • Chicken Katsu Sandwich – A crispy, juicy delight that’s both comforting and packed with flavor.
    • Prawn Tempura with Mango Chutney – A dish that surprises you with every bite—sweet, tangy, crispy, and absolutely delicious.

For something you’d think is simple, these dishes were bursting with flavour.

Their cocktail menu is just as remarkable, featuring expertly mixed drinks that range from timeless classics to innovative signature creations. My must-try picks are the Hot Margarita and Old Fashioned.

The best part? They don’t use regular sugar in their cocktails—instead, they opt for agave syrup, a healthier alternative. Because hey, who doesn’t love a healthy cocktail? Wink wink.

Patara strikes the perfect balance between chic and laid-back. Warm lighting, stylish décor, and an inviting atmosphere make it a great spot for date nights, catching up with friends, or simply enjoying a solo drink at the bar.

Let me know if you check it out—I’d love to hear what you think!

  • Surya Restaurant: Authentic Indian Food in Barcelona

Surya Restaurant: Authentic Indian Food in Barcelona

It’s been raining for the last three weeks in Barcelona, and you can tell we’re all too used to the city’s usual sunshine. Even in winter, the locals and tourists alike start to panic when the gloomy weather lingers, and the mood noticeably shifts. Because, let’s be honest—rain and Barcelona just don’t match.

But you know what does match? Rain and a warm, comforting Indian meal that hits the spot. So, braving the downpour, we headed to Surya Restaurant, a vibrant and inviting spot that brings authentic Indian flavors to the heart of Barcelona.

Stepping inside, you’re instantly welcomed by the cozy ambiance, with a striking bar designed to look like a Mumbai street bus, bringing an authentic touch to the space. The friendly staff make you feel right at home, while the menu is packed with bold, flavorful dishes. Whether you’re craving rich curries, fragrant biryanis, or their house-infused cocktails bursting with Asian flavors, Surya delivers every time.

One of the best things about dining here? Wednesdays are naan heaven, you can order any naan of your choice for just 1€! And if you’re a cocktail lover, take advantage of their 2-for-1 happy hour from 18:00 to 20:00 every day.

My go-to order? Always the Butter Chicken—an absolute must-try. Creamy, perfectly spiced, and incredibly satisfying. But the real surprise of the night? Their Pistachio Cardamom Ice Cream. I’d never tried anything like it before—so good, I forgot to offer to share.

A hearty meal, a cozy atmosphere, and the perfect way to make a rainy evening feel a little warmer. Sometimes, all you need is good food to turn a gloomy day around.

  • Darvaza Restaurant Barcelona: A Haven for Steak Lovers

Darvaza Restaurant Barcelona: A Haven for Steak Lovers

After more than 10 years in Barcelona, I’m surprised I’d never heard of this steak restaurant until now. From the moment we stepped inside, it exuded elegance and warmth—an inviting atmosphere perfect for a date night or special occasion.

I have to say it—I’m a meat lover. Protein, in general. I could probably live without carbs (rice, bread, tortillas, etc.), but I need my protein. Does that technically make me a keto dieter? Actually… maybe not.

For starters, we ordered the Cecina de Buey Ahumada, which is a smoked, sliced cured beef. Dare I say—it was even more delicious than Jamón Ibérico! We also tried the Brioche de Atún Rojo Salvaje, a wild bluefin tuna brioche. It was bursting with flavor, and that brioche? The perfect balance of softness and texture in every bite. At this point, I was already feeling pleasantly satisfied.

And then, the king of the menu arrived: their Black Angus Nebraska Ribeye Steak. The taste, the aroma, the texture—out of this world.

Quick trivia: Darvaza takes its name from a fiery crater in Turkmenistan that burns at 400°C, famously called ‘the gateway to hell.’ Fitting, given that this place knows how to harness fire to perfection—using charcoal and wood chips to infuse the meat with an irresistible aroma, then cooking it in a wood-fired oven. Pair that with a rich Spanish red, and my oh my—I was in steak heaven.

    I am definitely coming back.

Are you a fellow meat lover? What’s the best steak you’ve ever had, and where?
